Ana Kun (b.1981), is a visual artist based in Timisoara. Although she has studied graphics (BA) and creative writing (MA), her practice extends beyond the field of visual arts into independent publication (zine-making), vegan communal cooking and other collaborative practices concerned with life, care and liberation. She is part of two collectives, Balamuc and Zephyr, and of several duos, the most recent being LuciAna, with the visual artist Lucian Barbu, and the longest with cook Noemi Hügel, focusing on food politics. anakun.com
Femicide, sexual violence and rape of women and people socialised as women, family annihilation, murder/suicide, abuse etc, get crammed together under the umbrella of “violence against women” as if all these are problems that concerns only women and can only be solved by them. Just like any other women’s issue, in the public sphere these are crowded in shame and whisper. At best. At worst, people would rather formulate justifications and relativisations, wilfully ignoring the most vulnerable categories of women – poor, trans, migrant – but also non-binary people. We should all talk and act to change the status quo. As we all know both abusers and survivors, we all have skin in it. Although it’s not a call to revenge, my poem is a call to liberation for all.
