Simona Vilău (b. 1983, Târgu-Jiu) lives and works in Bucharest. She graduated in Painting from the Department of the Bucharest National University of Arts in 2006, and currently works as an artist and curator. She holds a PhD on The Image of Violence in Romanian Contemporary Art.
I create works on this theme because I have seen and read enough about women abused within the family. Violence is a subject that deeply affects me. I am still unsure what concrete steps I could take to contribute in this direction.
